History
Formula-offroad is a growing sport around the world. The sport started on Iceland in 1965 and the first Icelandic championship was held in 1979. At 1985 the cars was splitted into two different classes ,,Modified” and ,,Unlimited" but those classes are defined by the tires of the cars.
First competition abroad was in Sweden in 1990 and from that time the sport begun to occur in Norway, Finland and Denmark. Ten years later the nordic countries begun to compete about championship title in their own countries.
On the years 2000-2008 were held here on Iceland World championship, but not all the nordic countries competed so in 2009 the nordic countries merged all those tournaments together and now we have a competitions called NEZ that is held once a year in on of those countries. In 2016 was the first Formula-Offroad competition held in USA and have been repeated once a year since then.
Here on Iceland we have around six competitions or more each year that counts to the Icelandic champion title. Those competitions are held all around Iceland and are always popular by audience.
Competitions
Formula Off-road is a form of Motorsport where drivers compete in precision driving through steep hills and extreme terrain like mud and water with 4wd vehicles. At every competitions we have at least six tracks, which are around 30 m- 700 m long. Each track have five points gates zones that are counted from zero points to the highest rank you can get from one track or 350 points. To get 350 points the driver needs to get through the track without any punishment. In almost every competition we have one time track, in those tracks the fastest car through the track gets the most points and so on. In the end of the competition the driver with the highest rank from all tracks wins.

The formula offroad cars are built from specific standards so they follow up every safety rules under NEZ. Before every competitions the cars are inspected by inspectors of the competitions who goes through all details, they go through the safety of the car, safety of the driver and before every track the car is brake tested.
